What Are Our Laser Eye Surgery Services?

While Eyes Harvest Hills does not perform laser eye surgeries in-office, we do help each of our patients ensure they find the results they are looking for from the procedure. We are proud to offer the following services:

Consultations

Before you can have laser eye surgery, you will first need to have a consultation to determine your eligibility and if the surgery can correct your particular visual issue. Some eye diseases and conditions could prevent you from having laser eye surgery safely, so we must catch these issues before scheduling your operation.

While laser eye surgery can help correct various refractive errors, it does not guarantee 20/20 vision. Many patients report being satisfied following the surgery, but some still require glasses or contact lenses to improve their vision.

Once we determine if you can safely have laser eye surgery, we will refer you to an ophthalmologist to perform the procedure.

Following your surgery, our team will work closely with you and your ophthalmologist to ensure your eyes are healing well. We will schedule a series of follow-up appointments to assess your vision and provide you with care solutions to keep your eyes feeling comfortable during the healing process.

What Is LASIK Eye Surgery?

The Procedure

During LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) eye surgery, an ophthalmologist creates a “flap” from the outer layer of your cornea using either a small medical blade or femtosecond laser.

Folding the flap back reveals your corneal stroma, which your ophthalmologist reshapes using an excimer laser. Reshaping the corneal stroma corrects your refractive error.

Once your surgeon shapes your corneal stroma to match your prescription, they place the flap back in its original position to heal.

Consultations help reveal if laser eye surgery is right for you, but certain eye conditions can affect your eligibility. These conditions include:

What Do You Need to Know?

Preoperative Preparation

Laser eye surgery is a serious medical procedure and requires some preparation on your part to help ensure it’s successful. Some things you need to do before the surgery include:

  • Booking a few days off school or work to let your eyes heal.
  • Not wearing contact lenses for a couple of days before the surgery.
  • Not wearing makeup or alcohol-based perfumes, colognes, or fragrances to your surgery.
  • Not wearing clothes that can attract dust and dirt particles.
  • Setting up a ride home after the surgery.

Following the procedure, we have you follow a recovery plan to ensure you experience the best possible results. Some aspects of your recovery plan may include:

  • Wearing protective sunglasses when in direct sunlight.
  • Using prescriptive eye drops to soothe irritation and dry eyes (which are common side effects of the healing process).
  • Undergoing follow-up eye exams to ensure your eyes are healing normally.
